Roads

Kirkby is well deserved by major routes in the road network, including motorways, A-roads and B-roads

The M57 runs north-south to the immediate west of Kirkby and is extended further south by the Knowsley Expressway, providing a major route from the far north to the far south of Knowsley. The M57 links with the M58 at Switch Island, and runs east-west to the north of Kirkby, linking with the A506 which run through Kirkby. The M57 also links with the East Lancashire Road (A580) which runs east-west to the south of Kirkby. To the east of Kirkby, the M58 and East Lancashire Road are joined by the Rainford Bypass. Backroads lead from the northeast of Kirkby out to the Rainford Bypass.
