Kirkby has a number of different centres that support community activity
The oldest community building is the civil Kirkby Parish Hall in the centre of Kirkby. In c. 1966 the trusteeship of the building was vested in the Liverpool Diocesan Board of Finance (registered charity no. 249740) and locally administered by the Parochial Church Council of Kirkby (registered charity no. 1130754).
There are four community centres:
- Northwood Community Centre ( Facebook ), run by Northwood Community Centre Association (registered charity no. 1181668)
- Southdene Community Centre ( Facebook ), run by Southdene Community Association (registered charity no. 1160825 and company number 08948788)
- Towerhill Community Centre run by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council
- Westvale Community & Youth Centre run by Knowsley Council
There are three Children’s Centres in Kirkby:
- The Pride Children’s Centre
- The Eden Children’s Centre
- The Star Children’s Centre
There are two centres at Adventure Playgrounds:
- Copthorne – it is unclear if this centre is still open
- Mill Farm run by Knowsley Council has a small meeting room
There are two community centres provided by Livv housing group for sheltered accommodation:
- Communal Hall, Fairhaven
- Communal Hall, Park Close
