At the May 2019 elections the candidates for each ward were as follows.
Cherryfield Ward
Cherryfield Ward includes Field Lane and most of Southdene
Jayne is the incumbent councillor and has been in office since first standing as a Labour Party candidate in 1998
Mark stood as a Green Party candidate in 2018
Ken has not stood as a candidate in Kirkby before
Northwood Ward
Northwood Ward includes Northwood, St. Kevin’s Estate, the north-eastern part of Southdene and Kirkby Industrial Estate
Russel first stood as a Green Party candidate in 2015 and then in 2018
Marie is the incumbent councillor and has been in office since first standing as a Labour Party candidate in 1996
Pamela has not stood as a candidate in Kirkby before
Shevington Ward
Shevington Ward includes all of Towerhill, Shevington Park and Melling Mount
John has not stood as a candidate in Kirkby before
Tony is the incumbent councillor and has been in office since first standing as a Labour Party candidate in 2010
Neill first stood as a Trade Union and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) candidate in 2016 and then in 2018, and now under the name of Socialist Coalition
Whitefield Ward
Whitefield Ward includes the Town Centre, Westvale, Kirkby Park and part of Southdene.
