Labour returns to a clear sweep as it secures all 4 local council seats
On 4th May 2023 Kirkby went to the polls to vote in the local elections to elect borough councillors to Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, with 1 out of 3 seats in each of the 4 Kirkby wards contested:
- The Labour candidate Jayne Aston was re-elected in Cherryfield ward
- The Labour candidate Marie Stuart was re-elected in Northwood ward
- The Labour candidate Tony Brennan was re-elected in Shevington ward
- The Labour candidate Gary Bennett was newly elected in Whitefield ward, defeating the incumbent independent John Morgan who left Labour in 2022
