Services

A wide range of public services are available to the people of Kirkby from and through a wide range of organisations

Knowsley Council provide a range of local services ranging from the rubbish collections to the registry office, and from democratic services to day centres.

Social housing is provided by a number of housing trusts operating in the area (more details coming soon).

Support for those with disabilities or for the elderly are provided by social care services (more details coming soon).

Postal services are primarily provided by the Royal Mail and Post Office, with some parcel collection points provided by Collect+.

The flood warning information service provides information on the water level of the River Alt at Kirkby Gold Course and a map of current flood risk.  There are also general maps of risks from rivers and risks from surface water throughout Kirkby.

Urgent and non-urgent healthcare services are provided by a number of different public health organisations.  Emergency ambulance cover is provided by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust and air ambulance cover is provided by the North West Air Ambulance Charity.  For urgent non-emergency medical advice you can call NHS 111, or for emergency ambulance dial 999.

Community fire and rescue services are provided by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, with Kirkby Community Fire Station being located in the town centre. Additional search and rescue cover is provided by volunteers from the Merseyside Search and Rescue Team.  For non-emergencies you can contact the community fire station direct, and for emergencies dial 999.

Local policing is provided by Merseyside Police, with the force working with others to provide the North West Motorway Police Group.  Air support is provided by the North West Air Operations Group of the National Police Air Service (NPAS).  For non-emergencies dial 101, and for emergencies dial 999.

There are a number of Armed Forces units located near Kirkby including elements of the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army.
