Liverpool City Region Mayor

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is led by the directly elected Liverpool City Region Mayor

The last Liverpool City Region Mayoral election took place on 6th May 2021 alongside Knowsley local council and Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner elections, with the incumbent LCR Mayor Steve Rotheram being re-elected.  This election was originally planned to take place on 7th May 2020, however this was delayed until 2021 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is a strategic authority with powers over transport, economic development and regeneration.  The Liverpool City Region Mayor needs to work with the existing city and borough authorities:

The first LCR Mayoral election was held on Thursday 4th May 2017, with the Labour MP Steve Rotheram being elected to the role.

The turnout for this election was 30% of the 1,154,692 registered voters in the Liverpool City Region.
